How to do a plump ponys girth?

Hi! I have another pony camp leason towmorrow, I'm riding the same pony as I was today. This pony is really hard to do the girth up with her. I dont know if she puffs out or she is just a bit podgy but I struggled so hard to do it up just to hole number 1. I had to get someone else to do it for me. I am a young rider so i am obviously not as strong as an adult, but dose anyone have any tips on how i can do her girth up easier? Thank you.

The riding stables should really help you by giving you a suitable girth, so it can be done up more easily.

There is a quick way around this problem though - but it's many years since I last used it!

You need to look in the barn where they keep the hay and straw, and find yourself a length of baler twine about a metre long, without any knots.

Then all you do is thread the end of the baler twine through the last hole of the girth tab on the saddle, and then thread both ends of the twine through the buckle on the girth, and pull on the twine to guide the girth tab through the buckle.

Now repeat on the second buckle. Then remove the baler twine and save it to use tomorrow!

Also make sure that the opposite side of the girth is let down to the point hole as that could give you extra length.

Second this. Put the done up side down first then you can tighten again once the other side is done up. Make sure you check girth once you are on as it will no doubt go up a bit more then.

Agree with the baler twine. Try putting the saddle a little forward and do the front strap first. Then push saddle back. (Or ask for a longer girth! ) enjoy your ride.
