I'm off to my first ridden show tomorrow (last one was in hand and 5 years ago!) and I am having a dilemma about what to do with my hair! At 18 I am too old for pigtails and bows! I have a hairnet but wondered if I can get away with a bun rather than having the net over my head (hate them) as its only a local show. We are doing dressage and showjumping.

Thank you!

Bun will be fine. As long as it looks smart and tidy. I sometimes wear mine 'up' or more often when dressaging just put it in a pony tail.

Plait it, tie it up in a bun and wrap it in a net, I always fastened it on with a self coloured scrunchie thingy.

I am knocking on a bit, and stuck in the old ways, less is more, nothing looks more untidy than a pony tail (which never stays sleek) flapping about behind you, you turn your horse out nicely, do yourself the same courtesy. :)

A bun with a hairnet wrapped around it. I would agree that a pony tail looks messy and untidy.
When I was 18 I always plaited mine then rolled it into a bun and secured with a hairnet for showing or dressage, xc/hunting too. The only time I was a little more lax was for sj, when I would French plait it.

I put my hair in a low pony tail, then plait it, then ravel the plait round into a bun, put elastics over and finish with a hairnet. The hairnet only goes on when I put my hat on, I don't walk around in it. No one looks good in them unless they have a hat on too!
