How to feed a horse with a tumour?? Please help

Hi all, my mare has just been diagnosed with a tumour in her nostril. As a result of this she cannot manage to chew and swallow haylage, so I want to feed her molichop, which she eats with no problems. The problem I have is that she bolts it down in one go. Any ideas how I can trickle feed it?? Any help is appreciated as we don't have much time left together and want to make it as comfortable as possible. Thanks
 
Sorry to hear that. Not much I can suggest really. Maybe put it on the floor so she has to 'rumage' for it?

Sorry to read that. Can she manage (or is she allowed) cubes or pellets? A Snak-a-Ball might help slow her down and give her something to do if she is/can.
 
Ah, bless her - what a lovely mum to take such care over her last weeks/months with you. If she can manage molichop, could she manage something like hi fi lite? This can be fed as a complete hay/lage replacer/ Or Happy hoof? Or, come to that, a bucket of sloppy speedibeet. You could leave her with eg 3 buckets: 1 with hi fi lite, 1 with molichop, 1 with wet speedibeet. She could pick and choose then. Molichop do all sorts of varieties so you could mix and match there as well. Sometimes, putting a large (brick sized) stone in the feed bowl can slow a horse down. TBH, depending on how much longer she has with you, I'd give her whatever makes her happy. Thinking of you both. Hope I'm that brave this summer when me and my own veteran will probably face his Waterloo xxx
