How to find my horses past history.

Hi,
I would like to find to my horses past history because his passport doesn't give information like his shire and dam but without ringing previous owners ( number on passport is invalid). I was wondering if any has any past experience of tracing horses history or websites or other stuff.

I have seen a site but can't remember it's name something like horse watch or horse data that you can check up on your horse's past if it has anything on there. I will see if I can find it for you.
