Hello every one

Ok I am taking my pony out to his first undersaddle comp in the next few weeks. He is fully clipped and I am unsure what to use to make him SHINE. I am planning on giving him a bit of a wash the day before so he will be all clean but need some ideas how to make him sparkle. I was looking into the Cowboy magic super shine stuff but out of all the products I've never used it and would it help make a clipped horse shiney?
Also he has a couple of white socks what's best to make them white? After reading some other posts on this People have said washing up liquid and curtian whitener for mains but i think the latter will be a bit too harsh for his skin. I plan to obviously put chalk on it but I want to get some of the yellow out.

Any help or tips would be great

Show Sheen! It's pricey but worth it! You only need a little bit

I'm not familiar with undersaddle competitions, but remember never to use Show Sheen UNDER THE SADDLE as it is soo shiny it can cause the saddle to slip!

shiny coats come from within, ie well fed, well wormed, and in prime condition (teeth?)try adding a mug of oil per day to his feed, rug according to weather and groom thoroughly every day. hot wash with brown vinegar etc. wash socks with blue shampoo! then chalk!"

@ ofcourseyoucan - I shall get some blue shampoo for the white socks. His coat before clipping was nice and shiney thanks to like you say a good diet etc just wanted to add a bit of extra show sparkle to the clipped coat.

Mine are fed instand linseed which helps to give a great coat. After clipping I use an old flannel and hot water with a dash of dettol in it to hot towel the coat.

On winter show days I wash out mane, tail and legs (I have a hairy traditional), hot towel the body and then do a final towel go over with a little oil (tiny dash and not under saddle) to give a show shine.

Supreme sparkle on the mane and tail finishes the picture. Alva products are also good but not cheap.

Legs - wash out, tresume deep cleansing is a good shampoo especially if you add some equine blue to get the yellow out. If the legs are not hairy ones, then cover them with whitener - the supreme one is fairly good, bandage overnight and brush off in the morning.

Cowboy magic is great on grass and poo stains and as a last minute clean up.
