Just got super section A for our 3 3/4yo son yesterday and he spent all day today alternating between asking if he could ride again (after walking around the arena for half an hour first thing this morning!) and trying to vault onto the pony every time I turned my back.. Awww.. Am thrilled he's so keen but husband grinding teeth in the background imagining more money into the horse pit.
Anyway, son has a very broad head but it is relatively short, front to back (I blame the c-section). Local saddlery couldn't find anything to fit as a hat that is wide enough is too long. The closest fit is my own show hat (Showjumper 2000) that I keep for good but it's a 7 3/8 which he needs across the head but it slips forward, though less than anything else we've tried.
Far from ideal but all I can think of is adding foam or a similar material front and back to pad out the hat. I can't be the first person with this problem and wondered if anyone had any other ideas?
