Thanks in advance!

I think if you plait it from the right side and leave it in a couple of days then take it out it should stay on the right side. much cheaper

Sorry I still never get this 'right' and 'wrong' side when it comes to manes. If the mane grows that way then leave be is my opinion as as far as the horse is concerned that is the 'right' way as that is the way it grows!!!

sorry to butt in and be really naieve

but I never knew there even was a "right side" for the mane! what side is it please? my Tb and my little 15month cob both have their mane falling to the offside although they both could tend toward the growing straight up in the air category too !!!

Traditionally manes should fall onto the off side so no need to worry gracenarchie

I dont know where it comes from but i hate to say it - i am a bit 'silly' about it and see it as a fault if its to the wrong side - dont know where it came from! maybe its because from a young age i knew that there is meant to be a correct side lol

I can tell you why - it is because most gentlemen are right handed in sword use. The holster is therefore carried on their left (try it with an imaginary sword), which means that they mount from the left (nearside) to avoid getting stuck on their own holster.
And the mane is meant to lie on the right (offside) so that the gentleman can see the conformation of the horse he is about to ride, without it being obscured by mane.
