Hi :)

I am starting to offer teaching/schooling on a freelance basis alongside my degree course. Also available for freelance grooming at lower levels and plaiting/show prep.

I am 19 and currently hold my Pony Club B and Lunging Tests (the equivalent of the full stage 2) and have trained and competed up to 110 showjumping, 100 eventing both and Elementary level dressage and have trained and have owned horses for ten years. I have previously and currently taught in riding schools and an RDA centre and have been asked to teach the younger kids within my pony club. Currently, in the process of training towards my stage 2 coaching and Stage 3 with the both booked in the not too distant future. I am fully insured, DBS checked, have been on a CPD evening, safeguarding and first aid courses.

My question is how can I get myself out there to pick up some clients? I have a couple of friends who I am currently coaching/schooling their horses for them, however, am not sure the best way to go about gaining new clients?

Any ideas appreciated!
PS I feel very awkward trying to sell myself to others so might need a bit of a push ...

just typed out a reply and lost it!!!!!
how about putting notices in local tack shops/feed merchants. also contact your local riding club and see if they would like to run a clinic for a few riders. that would get you out there and some of them may like to carry on with regular lessons. my old riding club used to arrange these and they were very popular...what about calling in at local livery yards to see if they would like the same sort of thing. it is difficult to get known but you will have to be brave and bite the bullet.........good luck

Thankyou! Shall give this a go! A few of the girls from ponyclub would like a lesson but exams and broken ponies have stopped play! Will have a look at what’s around me 😊

You can create a 'business page' on FB very easily and for free, then ask everyone you know to share it! It's a good place for people to contact you, and minimize phone tag. Maybe ask your current clients to give a rating on the page as well, sort of like a reference.

I agree with the comment about riding clubs. Contact your local ones and see if you can do a clinic with them. It's a great way for people to 'try' a lesson with you for a reduced rate and a good way for you to meet new clients and potential new longer term business

Thankyou! Im a little wary of social media as want to avoid unwanted opinions from others about me putting myself out there! Ive advertised on instagram but have not yet tried fb x

Your local hunt says website might be worth trying hunters will be coming up soon .
I use all free lance labour and I don’t think you will find it hard once you get started .
