MIL has two foxes in her garden they come every night and ***** everywhere :( she has a dog and he rolls in it if she hasnt found it first to pick it up. Someone has offered to come and shoot them but she dont want that so has anyone got any ideas.

ps when is the breeding season?

Thanks

We have some that burrow around the sand banks of the school. We have found asking a kind man to wee ontop of the filled in holes works .....

Someone mentioned some sonic sensor things that emit a sound they do not like can also help.

I thought their breeding season was in the late spring/summer, hence no hunting during that period. Hunting finishes late March. Autumn hunting starts at the end of August/early Sept & most cubs are well grown by then.

Apparently, lion poo pellets work:

I have found letting the dogs out work quite effectively as well, fox muck smell is a lot less offensive than skunk I can assure you;)

When these guys are around the foxes keep their heads well down, of the two I prefer the foxes.

Shooting them can actually be the best way. You need to be very sure that the person doing it is a good shot and has the appropriate kit. They're not easy to shoot cleanly and obviously you don't want one left injured.

You can't bait for them becuase too much else will take the bait. I lost a cat to a stupid neighbour who mixed rodent bait and meat in the effort to poison an urban fox. Sadly my cat ate the mess first. (They were also prosecuted becuase rodent bait boxes are sealed and not meant to be opened.)

If you drive them away then they only become a problem elsewhere. No anti fox measures work for all foxes all the time. If these do move on becuase of the lion poo, man wee or whatever, then next one might not care overmuch.

But even if you do get rid of this pair - but shooting or another way - then another one will just move in. There are simply too many urban foxes entirely out of control. It isn't just the scat - but fox attacks on humans and pets are increasing.

My uncle told me that if you soak some hoof trimmings in water for a week or so and put it outside it attracts foxes!! lol thats not very helpful but you could put some leading away from your house to someone elses :p

does anyone get trouble with badgers in their fields? i have a family in one of mine and i worry about one of my horses legs going down a hole so i cover them in big flat rocks... but what can i do about it? i believe they are protected, can i do anything to shoo them away from my field?

Is it their den site? Why don't you just fence around it so your horses cant get near the holes, Badgers will manage through.

yes i could but since my field is not very big i would be fencing off quite alot of it since there are quite a vast amount of holes, my field is surrounded by unoccupied fields and a nature reserve so couldn't i just drive them out of my field or is that illegal? thanks :o

It is illegal to disturb a badger site. I don't know what else to advise but maybe contact a local badger group in your area who could give you the best information possible.

Get in touch with the vermin dept at your council, they can put humane fox traps out for you. Which will catch them and hopefully the council will put them down and not dump them in the countryside as when they do most have Mange which gets passed on to the local foxes and dogs and cats and humans (I've caught it) very itchy and the animals die a slow death and it's not pleasant trying to get rid of it from yourself:mad::mad: or your dog and cat very expensive:eek::eek:

Run it over in your car :)

But seriously I agree with Echo, deffo council you don't want mange, my dog caught it after rolling in fox poo and its a pain in the bum!
