How to get white tails sparkling???

Im sure ive read on here before about what people use but have looked in the money saving tips and can not find it, im sure someone uses something wierd like curtain cleaner, i just can not remember, any ideas please

use normal shampoo then rub a little chalk in the tail when its wet. let the tail dry then add more chalk and it will be really white!! u can use tail conditioner spray to make it shine!!

Spoonful of Daz in a bucket of hot water, and swoosh the tail round in it. Rinse, swish about, squirt on a bit of Mr Sheen and you have a gleaming white tail that's easy to comb out without yanking out the hairs

I have a white mare who has a really thick white tail which looks stunning when clean, i find the trick is 2 wash it whenever it is dirty because the hairs are actually clear and so letting them not stain is the key, i use chalk on her legs but find it does not reli work in the tail as loses shine!!

Ditto the scoop full of washing powder tip, works everytime.

Some vanish soap in the grooming box too helps those last minute stains disappear.

Napisan - detergent for terry towelling nappies.

Put it in as hot water as you can stand, don't put the dock in. Rinse, then wash with a blue/purple shampoo, condition then keep in a tail bag and repeat weekly

Hot water and a good purple shampoo then finish with denture tablets in hot water pop the tail in wait a few mins to soak and hey presto!!

I've certainly learnt something this morning! Been looking at the "used to be white" tale on our coloured mare and thinking mmm I know the Supreme Products Blue Shampoo is good in summer but not really sure it will be up to the job at the moment.

Great tips on here, going to get the Daz out first I reckon.

what I have found worked...

Firstly wash with grannys soap flakes, leave in for five mins or so then rinse out. Then a couple of washes with tesco value shampoo. Then rinse off with some Equine blue.

Wash with washing up liquid, then soak in curtain whitener for 10 mins! Works for my palomino mare, who always manages to get her tail dirty the morning of a show.

I wash the tail thoroughly with normal shampoo then rinse it in a mix of shampoo and lots of baby oil to make it really silky. Then I make a paste using chalk powder with water and put this all through the tail whilst its wet. Leave the paste on the tail, bandage the tail and cover it for transport, then brush out the chalk when you arrive at your show ground to find you beautifull white shiny tail! Works everytime!!

The cheapest make anti dandruff shampoo you can find, as it strips the colour out of EVERYTHING, great on socks too.

Edited to say........ DO NOT use it on your horses coat, if it is a dark horse, as it will go orange, as we have unfortunately found out right before a big championships

i use so silver shampoo from the hairdressers. i think little old ladies use it to keep their perms sparkly!! ha ha
