how to hang a hay net from the ceiling

Basically this one horse could win a competitive eating competition, take one breath and then inhale hay, slow and its gone no chewing required, so i need ideas of slowing down already in trickle net and thought why not hang so it dangles and it not against the wall.

Just wondered if anyone had every tried this, just to slow down consumption time and prevent the horse from pushing on the wall and eat quicker?
 
Yes it does help slow them down but some can get frustrated by it so I’d be wary if it was for one on box rest.

Normally a piece of rope is tied to a roof beam with either a loop in the end to thread the haynet string through or a lightweight ring on the end of the rope that won’t cause injury.
 
I think horses should be given the basic right to eat their hay from a natural position. Your horse trying to pick hay out of a swinging hay net is really going to make him ache after a while and won't be good for his teeth/jaw either.

Have you looked into why he's so hungry? Is just giving him the amount of hay that he needs an option?
 
Really not a good idea. Very bad for the back and neck and terrible for their wind. Horses should ideally eat off the floor or a corner manger. Perhaps put a corner manger in and put the hay in tiny holed, double or tripple netted?
 
the horse is out 12-14h a day not on box rest, already in the smallest hole net available 3 placed around the stable at chest height on quick release ties, but still has the ability of finding the place where you can inhale a bit like spaghetti in the lady and the tramp! it is really quite impressive to watch.

As for hunger, possible had restricted access to food before it became part of my team, so possibly habit, has the ethos of "get food" "inhale food" "no one else can get it" there job done and it is not under weight in fact a bit of the opposite. It need to try to find away so there is continual access to forage through the night when in, as i don't like them standing there for 10h without forage although i can give oat straw for bulk if needed.
 
yeah, I've done it-the haynet wasnt any higher than a standard one and I had two eating from it in a barn. works fine.

if not shod, try a nibbleze net on the floor-its the only thing thats slowed the Fell down a bit.
