Hi my tb cut his head whilst getting his head collar caught on a hook outside the stable and has unfortunately got a minor puncture wound at the top of his mane. I've cleaned with hibiscrub and put on sudocreme and a dab of udder cream over the top just asking advice on any other ways to aid the healing process

Tbh as long as it is clean, what you are doing will probably be fine. I wouldn't keep using the hibiscrub regularly though.

I personally use flamazine and then after a few days use Equaid :)

Get yourself some Derma Gel! It's brilliant stuff, heals pretty much anything over night! I've never had to apply it for more than two days even for quite considerable punctures/ scratches/ bites and rubs!

As a puncture wound you want to ensure it heals from the inside out and doesn't close over too soon.

Hydrogen Peroxide syringes into the wound reduces the risk of tetanus, wash with saline, no need to put harsh Hibiscrub on any wound.

Bathe the wound a couple of times a day and if scab bed over gently remove the scab. If it comes off easily the wound is infected and may need antibiotic ointment, if the scab is secure then the wound is healing well.

Remove the hook she got caught on, move it further away so she can't do the same again

Wash with warm salt water and keep any scabs away from forming as it needs to heal from the inside out. Use Dermagel to keep it covered over and keep a close eye on it as puncture wounds are notorious for becoming infected. If it looks atall manky then call your Vet as your more than likely going to need antibiotics.
