How to keep a lame horse and a shetland occupied?

Looking for things to do with Ned and Cookie, that don't involve riding etc.

What games could I play with them and could I teach them any tricks? Ned's ok to do walking around things, but I don't want him going faster than walk, if I can help it. Cookie needs to learn some manners, so I'll be doing that with him too.

P.s, Ned was still in this morning, I'll post a picture of the gate and it's extension when I get home this evening.
 
long reining? currently doing it will a three year old and she is loving it.

have also seen a fab video on here of someone long reining their shetland over jumps - looks pretty fun :)
 
Long reining, pole work in hand, teach the Shetland to drive....take them for walks in hand. Bombproofing with tarpaulins, plastic bags, etc etc. P.s. is the little one going to be gelded?

Good idea, I shall bring all my bombproofing stuff down tomorrow :D
Not for the time being, he's actually very very good, really the only thing he lacks is breaks :P but hopefully long lining will sort that.
