How to keep a water container hot?

Next week we are taking the horses on a road trip to the beach. As it’s several hours away I would like to wash them off afterwards as they are likely to be sweaty/sandy and it will save us a job when we get home.

I would like to do it with warm water however I only have a truck and trailer and buying a portable gas heater before next week is not an option.

I was thinking of filling a water container with near boiling water, wrapping a foil blanket around the container and a blanket and storing it in the truck. Hoping that some 5 hours later it will have some warmth to it.

The other option is take a few thermos flasks of boiling water and add it into the bucket when we wash down.

Any smarter ideas? And yes I realise they won’t melt being washed with cold water.

I used to fill water containers with hot water and then wrap in foil and put neck covers over them. They'd still be warm enough when we'd finished hunting.

I use a thermatex rug (you could put it outside the foil) and then the rug is also warm to put on the horse once he is washed and scraped off. Adding a couple of thermoses will help, good idea.

I would use rugs, I use my woollen travel blanket (used to put saddles on the ground) in my van if I do supermarket shopping on the way home from fittings and end up getting frozen food when I didn't plan to! The good coolers (I have an Igloo 5 day cooler) really are impressive if you'd have use for one otherwise. I have a fairly big one with wheels on one end and a pull handle.

I use an old turnout rug wrapped around container make sure the water is really hot when you fill it . It's amazing how long it stays warm for.

I've recently seen a trailer with a ply box in the nose lined with that reflective insulation polystyrene stuff they put in lofts. Fab idea if you need this regularly.

I use the rolls of silver bubble wrap that are sold as staple on roof insulation.

Do you have a silver emergency blanket? That'd work well and they cost peanuts.

I also bought a camping shower from amazon. Decant hot water into a bucket and carry it round while you shower the horse. Very useful.

Have a great ride.

Been working on options over the past few days, I did have a styrofoam box I was hoping the container would fit into but it does not. So I’m going to go for foil blanket, wrap in my thermatex (love this idea as I can put it on him warm!) and then a large thermos to top up buckets if needed - and some tea bags for excess hot water!:)
