how to keep egg bar shoes on?

Hello, does anyone have any suggestions?
I've been riding and turning out with over reach boots on, but she still pulled a shoe straight off in the school. Farrier isn't going to like me at this rate!

Sorry, no help at all, they can be a bugger to keep on.

Only thing I can suggest is make sure she's shod regularly so that the shoes stay tight and if her horn is weak consider a hoof suppliment.
 
Try asking your farrier if it would be possible to have the shoes so they are straight across the heel instead of rounded - still giving the frog support. Might make a difference if they are fullered (if they are not already). Bigger Overreach boots?! Or try telling your pony they are very expensive and he won't be getting any xmas pressies at this rate!!!!
 
We've had this problem before, the farrier put a couple of clips on them (like what you have on the other shoes) and they've stayed on brilliantly (touch wood!) for the full duration- maybe worth asking your farrier about that?

I had this...... ended up putting duck tape round the shoe and heels. Worked beautifully. After 3 years of no problems had the same shoe riped off every week for 3 weeks, sometimes within hours of it being put on, so tried the duk tape thing until he was due for shoing then replaced the egg bar with a straightbar. Seemed to do the trick!
 
thanks everyone! few things to try there. I was thinking of the duck tape actually - will give that a go tomorrow when I get back on her.
 
just looked those up on the web when i saw your post - they look really good (and light - the eggbars are so heavy!). I will ask my farrier about them but think they may be too expensive...
 
I used to use very large neoprene over reach boots. The rubber ones were no good as they 'ping' off too easily or rip, but the neoprene ones are really heavy duty. I even evented without loosing a bar shoe!!
