As title really, 3 horses in fly masks, 1 mask has ears, flies got chronic yesterday, so on went the fly masks, knowing the TB dislikes cover of any sort, he got the ears plus a headcollar on top, the other 2 in regular fly masks, went on 4pm, off by 6 30am, any suggestions?

You joke, but I have actually taped one onto my mare's head before! She ended up with infected eyes from the flies so HAD to keep it on. I used electrical tape with my reasoning being that if she caught it on something it would break or stretch but it would stop her pulling it off by rolling. It worked a treat whilst her eyes cleared up, now I just use a fly fringe with elasticated throat latch.

they might be better without headcollars on..............all of ours have masks plus headcollars except goofy who insists on scratching behind his ear and pulls the entire headcollar plus mask combo off.

without a headcollar he cant get his toe under the mask to remove it!

I sew 3 loops on to the masks (1 at the poll and 1 on either side) and run the headcollar crown strap through them. Even horses who HATE masks don't get them off

I use the Rambo Vamoose masks, with the big hoop.

Mine havent got them off in several years, when seems to get all other types off. And hunting over huge field not much fun.

For me these masks have been worth the higher price - dont rub, lots of eye clearance, robust, stay on!!

Mine has double locking Velcro and he managed to keep it on, unusually. The Velcro sticks down then another piece goes over the top, making it very secure. It's the Cashel flymask.

Get the type with a hole for the forelock to go through, or else make a hole there. Put on mask. Divide forelock into two. Bring forward a small section of mane from just behind ears. Plait the three sections together so that mask is plaited into forelock. This also works for keeping grazing muzzles on greedy ponies, but only if they are not hogged :D
