Just over 3 weeks to go until I move stables. My horse has been at the current yard for 3 and a half years. I was wondering if there is anyway I can make the move easier for him?
He colics easily so I am scared he is going to get upset and colic when we move.

When I moved mine last year i made sure both of them got turned out for the morning while i sorted everything out, we took all our stuff to new yard and then went back for the horses, made it stress-free knowing horses were out in field while we sorted everything, only got them in once we were completely ready - this kept them chilled too

I've just had this major stress - (moving stables) but I helped it all by being really prepared. I made her stable before , so it was all ready, moved all her stuff and mine and then came back for ned. Turning them out good idea as above. Also make the journey as stress free as poss and feed them early if you must /or at least 2 hours before journey. Has he got a nice rug to travel in or some boots? If he is going straight out at new home, I'd work something out with YO to get him used to his new companions, but generally they sort themselves out. Other than that keep calm and keep him company - he has you and your his only familiar face. I left time for my mare to settle, but also came and visited her lots, grooming her and fussing. The more easy it all is, the more organised, the more calm you and he will feel. Good luck xx

take some of his clean old bedding with you. We did that with both of the boys to scatter on top of there beds and they were right at home. thats the only tip i've got for you
