How to make mane lay the 'right' side

So hints and tips how to tame my daughters sec a mane to lay the right side?? The bottom half does and then half way up the neck it flips to the other side!!

Wouldn't normally bother me but hoping to do some m & m showing this season

We have but ive always been cautious-How long can I leave the plaits in for?

My daughters section a's mane does exactly the same thing.
I put long loosish plaits in and leave for a week undo and brush out and it stays on the right side for nearly 48 hours

I leave mine in for a week, leave them out for a day or two and then re-do them.

Thin the mane from the underside and use a lycra hood! Mane does not need to be hugely long 5/6 inches or so is adequate.
