How to offer a seller less money for a horse than they want politely!

Just to update - I still have not been able to speak to the owner . They replied with they had had some damage to the property with the storm . And where trying to deal with that . Then would ring me back later . That was yesterday afternoon I said okay great speak to you soon . Still now call back . I don’t know weather to try again or leave it for a bit ?

I'd let fate take a hand and leave it there; let the seller get back to you, or not.

you are probably going to get a more favourable response by waiting for them to come back as it seems they are trying to sort out an issue due to the storm

Some how I don’t think it’s got anything to do with the storm . I feel like they have been wasting my time . They told me that they had someone else waiting to vet the horse but we viewed first so would honour our second viewing and that’s what they told the others . But they said they wanted my decision by Thursday evening . I said I would ring them as soon as I got back and had chance to speak to my YO . They said great but never answered my call . Think I will look at some others to go view ?
 
I ask for a discount on all sorts of stuff, in shops, horses, saddles, washing machines, jewellery… the only place I don’t ask for a discount is food shopping, its rare that I don’t get something off or something else thrown in… I don’t see it as rude just part of the deal.
 
I always ask slightly more than I want for things I sell, that way the buyer can make an offer, I can accept if it’s at my hoped for level and everyone is happy.

It sounds like they are going with the other potential buyer if that person's vet check goes smoothly. You never know, that buyer might change his or her mind for a genuine reason.

In the meantime, it might be an idea to think about what the horse is worth to you.:)

Just had a quick read-through to remind myself of what was what.

Now I understand fully I think. They let you have a second viewing but I think they'd already decided on another buyer.
