Hi, my 8 year old son is doing a little dressage test tomorrow & I just need to check how he should salute to the judge. I always used to put left hand down by my side & bow my head, but is this the female version - should boys just bow their heads? So far he's been doing the former.

Boys and girls do it in the same way if they are in a 3 point harness... Male riders in a Beagler, take off their hat, place it down by their knee and nod head.
Correct salute is a one two three four movement. So reins in one hand.
One.... drop hand to side
Two... head down
Three.. head up
Four... hand back on rein

If you are a diva like Glamourdol, you will put your hand out slightly.. always made me chuckle but looked cool.....
Take a look......

Salute..
