how to sell a pony that doesn't hack alone??

How about `Enjoys hacking, will go first or last, just not alone'?
Agree, he will meet somebody's need. After spending 3 hours on the ground after a hacking fall, with a broken pelvis, ribs and cracked vertebra 20 + years ago, I've never hacked out alone since, so if I was looking it wouldn't worry me but I would expect it to lead wherever I wanted to take it.

Totally agree, I sold a very nappy horse but was totally honest about him. He went to a lovely home, kept on a professional yard and did very well. I saw him at a local event doing the pairs hunter trial which they won. He was a dream to hack in company, never spooked, never took a hold and was always happy to have a horse in front of him on a gallop. there's a lot to be said for that!! On his own he was a complete nightmare, completely in a panic and would rear, spin and buck

I've been very honest, I've been lied to too many times when buying horses. I'm getting so stressed about it as I really do need to sell him ASAP, we had someone come see him today and he was a little a******e!
He has everything going for him apart from that.....pure frustration

Just be honest. I've sold one which won't hack alone, was never really a problem for buyers as long as you state in your ad

I wouldn't find it a problem because I now never hack alone and I would never send my children out alone. I think honesty is best but if its good in every other way I would not be bothered.

Mine refused point blank to hack alone when I got him............. but we worked on the issues and now he will. But I'm not intending to sell him!!! If I had thought to sell him I would have said clearly that he "currently lacks confidence if hacking solo" or words to that effect.

I don't see it as a problem TBH; some people want to hack solo, and so OK they look for a horse that is capable of hacking solo, or perhaps they're a novice and need something that will go on its own without napping: BUT a lot of people would never want to do that and so as long as a seller is honest about it I don't see it as a black mark as far as selling goes.

Good luck with selling anyway!

Oh no! Isn' t that typical? What did he do?

He wouldn't leave the yard even with me beside him, we regularly hack out with my boyfriend riding his bike or just walking with us, don't remember the last time he wouldn't leave the yard like that.....was sooooooo embarrassing lol

Loads of people don't ever hack alone, especially if they're at a livery yard or whatever where they always have friends to go out with. I dont think its a big issue especially if its good for other things (competing etc.?). And some people simply don't hack ;)

It wouldn't bother me because my children always hack together with me on the ground too.As long as it was good in every other way,it wouldn't be an issue for me.

Agree
Just be honest. Not for me, I only hack alone. No choice. But if that's the only vice its not the end of the world.

Just be honest. I don't enjoy hacking on my own, and so long as the horse is okay going to shows alone, competing alone etc it really wouldn't put me off.

Of course they have managed to sell nappy ponies. Some horses are sold as complete projects with many behavioural issues, and go on to turn out ok. Just be honest. Tell potential buyers the no thrills, honest truth!

I'd say a nappy pony would be easier to sell than a nappy horse as most children don't hack alone anyway.
As everyone else has said be honest and I'm sure the perfect home is around the corner
