My daughter is keen to show her pony this year in some local shows and maybe even some qualifiers for bigger shows. This is a new pony for us and although my daughter has been showing ponies for a couple of years, they have always been loan pony etc. So I'm not sure which classes we can show her in??

My daughter is 9 for reference. The pony's (replacement) passport says cob but not much else(!) and she's 13.1hh.

Be honest, is her confirmation rubbish? Is local shows all we can aim for? This photo was taken last year so she's a bit thinner now! Also any recommendations as to tweed colours that would suit her would be appreciated too!

Thanks guys x

Show her as a coloured native

neatened mane, not very very long, feathers left on, plain tack and your daughter in tweed

There aren't enough classes for 'coblets' around to justify hogging etc and pony is too small to stand up as a cob in the show ring

Coloured native classes are not to be confused with M&M native classes so don't enter those

Most local shows will have a general coloured class so enter that plus the generic classes like best condition, tack and turnout, Pony Club pony, family pony, novice child/pony classes and child's open ridden pony

The pic isn't good enough to get a full idea, she is quite possibly a little heavy set for a coloured native but process of elimination says that's your best bet

If you present clean and tidy at any local show you'll be encouraged even with a pony that's less than perfect conformationally - its having fun that counts!

Agree with we need some better photos and what Welsh D says about classes there are lots you can do locally.

I would aim for those and see how you go, there are even different levels of local shows some are very low key aimed at beginners and others are of a higher standard so start low and see.

A nice green or brown tweed will suit a nice pale yellow or pale blue shirt with a red tie looks nice.
