Mine is exactly the same. 16.3hh and 7 years old. He LOVES his cross country so worth a go of something like this but is still slow. Secret has mostly just been ensuring he is always on the aid and thinking forward and we’re getting somewhere now.

Maybe we should hang up the competition boots and just do fun rides. I would never sell him I love him way too much he really is an angel.

Thats what Im doing with my younger mare. Shes way to chill and sensible to be jumping 120s so we are doing fun rides and low level unaff eventing and we are loving it

I've never been interested in competing so he sounds just like my sort of horse

I guess I'd try the suggestions but not get too hung up on it and just enjoy him

Don't ruin him. Leave him to be as chilled out horse. He sounds fantastic. If he is too quiet for you then let someone else have him and enjoy him!

I sold one because I found him rather too quiet for me. 10 years later I was given him back when the lady i sold him to stopped riding. I was ready for him by then and we had 12 happy years together.
