How to stay in shape for riding

Find an exercise you enjoy, I do like exercise but I need to find fun in it, not just do it for the end goal. I train at a community circus doing aerial stuff, so silks, hoop and rope, I also do pole acrobatics. I like this stuff because I'm working towards my next trick or drop or flip and getting fit is a side effect of that.

In terms of food, this year I was a couple of kg above what I wanted, so I swapped some things. All my pasta was wholewheat, I'd eat before I went to the stables instead of right before bed. I had more salad and quinoa. And most importantly I drank a shed load of water so I was never hungry and felt much better. I lost 2kg in 2 weeks just by leaving out the junk. Sadly now it's winter I have to eat late and I can't train so much as I've damaged some nerves in my neck and I'm scared I'll make it worse, so I'm back at a couple of kgs heavy.

I also try to have a motivational photo somewhere, either of myself looking my best or someone I admire. Stick it on the snack cupboard door!

I ride? Haha & do work around my yard, have my own place so always something to do!

I'm pretty lucky I have a high metabolism but I do eat pretty healthy ! Although I use sweets as a stress relief haha

I'm moving to a 3rd floor flat so the stairs will also help !!!

Swimming & Pilates. There is a very good exercise book by a lady called Peggy Brill who aims her exercises specifically at ladies. The core stuff is very good for riders particularly. Recommended by a bio mechanics specialist.

Get a fast metabolism- I can eat whatever I please and sit around all day yet still manage to be hardly anything ;)

On a less lucky note, to actually stay fit I do quite a bit of running and ab based work exercises. Alongside that I'm not able to drive and 'Mum's Taxi™' can only take my "lazy arse" to the yard 2 days a week, 3 if I bribe hard enough so I walk 2 hours a day to go see CC (an hour there and another back) that helps a bit, CC isn't really in work atm so I ride maybe 1.5 hours a week dossing about in the school or light hacking if I'm lucky but when the better weather gets it's self sorted she'll be doing 6-8 hours a week of more hard work.

With the amount I eat and the things I eat (slight addiction to crisps!) I'm honestly so thankful for my digestive system! I'd like to gain a bit of weight (it's honestly impossible to get even a half stone on!) so I can get out of kiddie clothes (they never do make nice kids show jackets- *grumble*) and find joddies that fit me in the waist and legs (I'm a lanky sod as well). I suppose this is what I get for being a lucky bum on weight terms!

Anyone want to lend me a stone so I can get a jacket that fits? Maybe I need to go get myself a BF or a GF again, anyone know where I can buy one or someone who can lend me one?

I found buying a second horse in addition to the one which must be exercised every day was pretty helpful. If I don't eat masses of junk that would be sufficient exercise however I do eat junk so it's creeping on. However doing a riding camp next week where I will be riding both in lessons twice a day so hoping that will be a kick start again.

Number one tip is swapping calorie drinks for water. I "didn't like" water until I was 28 but I've lost 5 stone and mostly kept it off largely by drinking unflavoured sparkling water instead of junk drinks. I do have a very active job as well as the horses.
