My tack is kept in our fairly damp, not properly sealed tack room and it's just recently started going mouldy

. I only ride at weekends and my daughter only rides every few weeks (on my old retired pony who doesn't need anymore exercise), so it's not getting really dirty just mouldy.
I don't have anywhere to keep it at home, so has anyone got any ideas on how to keep the mould at bay?
Thanks

Would a bridle bag with silica gel sachets in help? Should absorb the moisture and make a drier micro climate in the bag, might stop the mold growing.

PMSL - I've always wondered what those flippin' sachets of sillica gel are for.

You can get a tack "cleaner" for want of a better word, i think called fungical that helsp stops tack going mouldy. Clean as normal, then apply. Otherwise a weekly clean will be the only answer

Thanks everyone. Some great ideas. I will look into the bridle bag and silica and that cleaner that stops mould. We don't have any electric points to plug a radiator in, but that would have been good for warming the air through a bit.
Not sure about cleaning it every weekend!

Seems like a mammoth task when I'll only be using it once or twice in the week!

Oh well, needs must, and it's better than cleaning the bathroom!
