Title says it all really.

I've had to put my filly on a controlled diet on vets advice to manage her DOD, so I changed her from straw bedding which she was scoffing to Aubiose, which I love, but so does she!! - to eat!!! **bangs head**

I was advised to restrict her hay too but all the advise on the internet goes against this advice so I have upped her hay rations slightly in the hope that it will stop her eating her bed but is there anything else I can do, short of changing her bedding again to stop her eating it????

As Auboise absorbs moisture at a very good rate, and swells, I wou;d be very worried about her colicing.

Shavings would be safer.

I agree, thats why I wanrt to stop her eating it. I am not sure about using shavings as it is quite hard to get hold of good quality shavings ath the moment and as she is on box rest I don't want dust problems.

Ditto Jeyes Fluid, but I think you will find she will stop eating it within a few days, especially once it's a bit less white and fluffy, it's just natural curiosity.

Can you get her a lick/salt block or something to keep her amused/eating whilst she is on rest??

Never known one eat aubiose before!!

She already has licks and things allthough I have to be careful with those too as they are packed with all sorts of vits & mins and I have to keep her diet under conrol.

Jeys fluid seems to be working...

I know its a bit grim but you could always dilute jeyes fluid and spray it on the bedding! Alternatively if you don't have a spray you could mix it in an old bucket and use an old dandy brush to 'flick' it on the bedding - I used to use it like this in the !old days! before shavings.....Works tho'
