hello

as in title? my friends horse kicks out really badly when travelling, no matter which horse he's travelling with. We're a bit concerned about the welfare of our lorry. is there any way to stop this? there doens't seem to be a particular reason for it!

thanks!

lol not sure he'd manage the hobbles but maybe the slowing down might help. we do drive VERY slowly. he has plenty of hay etc and looks perfectly content, i travelled in the abck with him recently to see if we could work it out....

try driving a bit faster, it really does unsettle some if you go too slow...
Sounds daft I know but 2nd what cuppatea says. My last horse was great when my hubby drove, careful, smooth but faster than I would drive and she was great. When I drove, ultra carefully, she would always bounce the trailer about.
It does seem to make then concentrate more about balance than kicking and messing about.
Before I get slated :D, Im not saying drive like a looney.

thank you. we'll try varying the pace. he did do it though one time when we had a horse transporter and he was a pretty quick driver considering we had four horses in the back. I think he's just in the habit of it now :-s!!

thank you for your help!

ha ha, i had to think twice and weigh up the possibilities of getting a beating from people before i mentioned it too!:D

Me too :D:D:D

Was also told by horsebox builder who is an man whos been round top SJ for years to brake very hard and suddenly as my horse also kicked the side of my new lorry and damaged it.
I didnt dare try this though :)

hobbles!

one of mine kicks for no good reason and when i get my new lorry iv told him he either quits kicking or the hobbles come out, im not having it trashed simply because of bad manners.

have used them before and horse was fine with them :)
