How to stop muzzle rubbing?

Hi all.
My horse has to wear his greenguard 24 hours a day, vet's orders.
The headcollar and strap are rubbing under his chin.
Does anyone have any ideas of what to use to stop them rubbing????

Covering the bit that rubs under the chin with gaffer tape (aka duct tape) seemed to work quite well. The surface of the tape is shiny and stops the rubbing.

i got some sheepskin nose band covers and have put them on so far so good
