How to stop the itch! Horse fly bite.

I'm allergic to horseflies and always swell up massively and end up with antibiotics. This year I'm starting to have similar reactions to mozzies too ??? The mini tazers work really well but the effect doesn't last long.
 
Those ammonia 'pens' (Afterbite?) work for me on everything but horsefly bits.

I haven't tried Lanacane before but have just ordered a tube in preparation - I've managed to avoid all but one bite (through breeches) so far this year so must be due another and they're out in full force at the moment!

Boil the kettle, fill up a mug, stick a (metal) teaspoon in for a couple of minutes, take it out, when it's bearable to put it on your skin press the back of the teaspoon on the bite and leave it there for a minute or two. Tried it this morning (6 hours ago) on my ankle hf bite. It works ! ???.

When I got attacked by a wasp's nest and had multi stings all over my chest and arms I went back in to the yard I had been brush cutting for (clearing cross country course of stinging nettles and chopped straight through a wasps nest) they smeared me in vinegar, takes away the itching and it worked but I did smell like a fish and chip shop for a while.

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream works for me. It's my human equivalent of sudocreme - horse fly bites, mosquito bites, sunburn, dry skin, cuts, scars...
 
I use Anthisan cream, and take antihistamines all year round which does help.
Sister uses the little sparky thing but I can't make myself use it!
 
I make my own cream by grinding up some antihistamines (I have a lot as I used to have a sweet itch pony) in a pestle and mortar with a tiny bit of water and then mixing them into some hand cream with a bit of cortisone cream mixed in. Keep it in a little pot and swear by it :D
 
I suppose the sanitizer is just alcohol. I seem to get relief for a few hours and then they’re back. Itchy itchy. Day 2 is always the worst for me ? Very strange!

I borrowed some of my horse’s Itch -eze gel tonight, it’s really good just to Dab on right away. It’s aloe Vera, tea tree, peppermint and cajeput. Whatever that is.
 
I have a huge bite on my knee, it's slightly itchy but more of a ache, tried bicarbonate paste which helped a bit, then fresh ginger rubbed on which also helped. But have resorted to anti histamine cream as it's so swollen
 
So we’ve had leather face masks and S&M equipment (vegan) repurposed to gate opening devices and now we have tasers. Horse and Hound forum will have to move to the dark web if this carries on ?
 
I have huge reactions and have used Afterbite and antihistimines, spending loads of time with cold flannels to reduce the heat/swelling/redness, when in actual fact what I needed to be doing for years was blasting them with a hairdryer! The heat kills the toxins that cause your body to react. Hot air (or a hot teaspoon as you've already discovered), every 3 to 4 hours will have an amazing reaction for me and reduce everything down within 24 hours. It's definitely not a "one treatment cures all" so you'll need to repeat a few times over the course of a couple of days.... but it will definitely lessen symptoms in a much quicker time.
