I know it is still a while away, but I have been thinking about Grace's winter rugs. She has a lovely WB combo stable rug (as does Hannah) and it is lovely in every way except it rubs one section of her mane

This was not too much of an issue last year, but this year it is as I need to have her plaited up most weekends

Does anyone have any tips or things I could look to buy?

always found it to be a problem, especially like you say on the combination rugs.

Have you got a 'normal' rug that you can attach a neck cover too instead?

I'm not using my rugs with attached neck covers this year as I am so fed up with spending 6 months growing a mane back. I might just have to do away with the covers

Yes, silk or nylon lining material covering the join will do the trick. Have been using a Rambo Wug Plus for 5 years and no mane has gone missing......yet!

Where would I get one without the face part?

The detachable one (Mark Todd) was even worse... I tried that first and then bought her a WB combo one as it didn't rub Hannah. I can't really afford to buy any more rugs at the moment with paying for the horse box to be converted, plus I already own far too many as it is.

im actually looking forward to him having his full neck rug back on, so the bit of mane he's had CHEWED OFF by his buddy can grow back

I hate to say this, but I have tried all of the above, none of them worked on my boy, who was very fine, and I now have a load of rugs with necks not being used! I went back to the normal ones and didnt have the problem last winter. I use a lycra hood a day or so before a competition, makes the hair lie nice and flat and gives a nice shine!

Hi! still looking, went to Gloucestershire yesterday and liked that one, also going back for a second look at one tomorrow!! decisions decisions!

I have native ponies living in Fal rugs with attached necks. They wear them out in th field and in the stable as well. I put baby oil on the manes a couple of times a week and have had no trouble since I started with the oil.
