.... Horses chewing fences??!! Anybody got any miracle potions I can use to stop them chewing my fencing? For some reason they are finding it much more tasty than the grazing. Thankies
My mare was chewing the fence a couple of weeks ago. Gave her a vitamin supplement every day and she's stopped. I think that they're not getting everything they need out of the grass now and a supplement is needed.
Maybe? Its been rested all summer and they only moved into this field yesterday so there is grazing. The last lot of horses that were in last year started the chewing and it seems this new lot are carrying on for good measure. It really anoys me to see my nice post and rail fencing being destroyed but hey ho thats horses! The chicken wire is a good idea!
I actualy read an atricle about that recently. Apparently some horses do well to have branches to chew on (as they would in the wild) in the stable and field . watcing ponio in the field, if he gets the chance he certainally enjoys chewing branches.
Stockholm tar! We have a cribber on the yard & was demolishing the fence rails. We used to use creosote, but run out so melted down an old tub of stockholm tar - he doesn't chew them now!!
