How to survive a livery yard!

mind your own business

dont offer an opinion until asked [which will probably be never]

your horse does wrong - its all your fault....

clean up after yourself

dont bitch.......unless you can trust the person your bitching too

keep yourself to yourself :D

im on a fairly new yard - i love it - i speak to people - polite hello/good bye but have 1 friend on there really...and i like it that way.

the times i go i dont see that many people - thats the way to be....

Yards can be really great places friendly and fun and supportive.

However it is important to remember no-one is perfect, people make mistakes and everyone has the occasionally bad day so you need to be forgiving and understanding towards other liveries and their horses and realise that you yourself won't be perfect and could annoy someone or be a bit difficult when under stress or on an off day or make the wrong decision.

Try to be respectful towards others and make sure you pay on time for any services you have used and for your livery.

Never say anything negative about any horse that does not belong to you or other people's children, partners or family member.

Don't make judgements about people based on what others say or until you have got to know someone, sometimes people may come across as unfriendly but they might just be a bit shy around new people.

If you want to offer help or advice then do it because you want to help someone and not because you expect something in return. If you give advice don't be offended if someone does not agree or wants to do something different.
