As the title really, my horse will not unload from a horse trailer without having to turn him around. This is obviously not ideal, and only works in a two place anyway. I need to take him in a one place horse trailer soon so really need some tips on how to teach him to do this please!

Thanks

Teach him to back up on the ground first until he can happily back nice & steadily through 2 poles placed the same width apart as the ramp. If you can, I like to put the trailer at the bottom of a slight slope so the ramp is reasonably flat for the first few goes.

Hi, thanks for this. Funnily enough he is fine backing up through poles on the ground and backing up in his stable. Most places in fact. Its just when I ask him to get out of the trailer he will not budge! Or if he does he goes back two steps and barges forward. Honestly he has stoood completely stock still for 2 hours before!!

Make a tunnel out of jumps or old bales, get him to do a few steps, halt, then back somemore. I'm guessing its the fact he can't see what he's backing into from a trailer but can with poles. If he is a good loader take him part way up ramp & back down & gradually increase it when he's happy at this stage. But I wouldn't go this route if he's not a good loader or it might teach him its a good evasion.
