But without having a wetherby's passport?

Posting on behalf of friends.

any clues gratefully received on how to get breeding/racing info on an alleged ex-racer who only has a generic passport rather that a wetherby's one. He was sold to them as having raced, but the owner hadn't had him long and had been in a car accident and wouldn't be able to ride again :( so was having to sell him. He came to them (previous owner) with the passport and microchip papers that have been passed onto my friends, and the info that he'd previously raced. He's now 11 (ish).

any ideas on how to get the right details for him, and to find out more about him? he's a lovely horse, and someone's obviously spent time reschooling him, and friends would like to do RoR if he's eligible.

get the microchip number and contact weatherby's, they should be able to give you his name from that and whatever other info they have. You can then look him up on attheraces.com to watch his old races!

if he is an 11 yr old he would have been microchipped at birth with wetherbys as they enforced it in 1999, so the lack of microchip is likely to indicate that he wasn't a wetherbys registered tb. doesn't mean he didn't p2p though.

That's annoying!!

My ex racer came with a Wetherbys passport (and I bought him from a trainer).

Seems odd that if he did race he no longer has the Wetherbys passport, though he could have racd P2P. Or gone through some less than genuine people at some point in his life?

Let us know if you have any luck with the microchip route . . . would be interesting to know what he has done.

we're thinking that one or more of those is a possibility.

He's a really sweet little horse though, it would be a shame if he was raced to not know. Not an obvious choice for the transition from ponies to horses, but he seems so genuine and willing! she even managed to hack him out for half an hour on the day he arrived, and he just relaxed and settled into a nice walk. :)
