My loan mare has recently been very ill. As part of some diagnostic tests (scanning etc) she had both of her sides clipped to investigate her lungs. Only about 6x6 inches on each side.

Vet's clipper blade kept coming off and it had caught Meg's skin. Wasn't very impressed with the job as parts of the clip have gone right down to the skin.

As a result of this, she's come up in sore looking bumps. Put sudocrem on it past couple of days to help soothe it but it doesn't seem to be going away quickly. She's a bit tender if you press on it but not in any seemingly real discomfort.

Will try and get some pics later on.

Is there anything I can try to help it clear up? Thanks :)

Sudocrem is a good soother but we find mudbar is the best all-round cream for irritable rashes. Put it straight onto the sore and it will calm down and scab over quickly. I hope she's on the mend soon poor girl - that's awful about the vet's clippers. They shpould take particular care as they're going from horse to horse and could spread infections.

Will try mudbar, thanks!

She's on the mend now, came down with colic and a resulting mystery illness. Just about to finish course of prednisolone and she's much better. Vet has okayed ridden work so we're solely looking up from now! x

So glad to hear she's on the mend. There's always something! my 4 are going down with coughs one at a time with a 10 day gap in-between so that must be how long it takes to develope. At least the mud fever cleared up!
