How to vet your other half for horsey people!

Just did this with hubby! (blame the wine!) He got 78 - not bad! He wants to add to the list: building of field shelters and pop picking/stacking the muck heap!
I was impressed with how well he was doing until the recognising my horses bit...and there's only four horses at the yard - two of which are mine! :-/ mine are two big horses, the other two are tiny ponies...that makes it worse!

Mine got 41 but I'm perfectly happy. He isn't at all horsey but doesn't mind me being and doesn't moan (apart from about the smell). He does cook, shop etc and pay for most things.

He has a hobby (judo) which the children are also into so I get lots of free mummy time while he goes to training comps etc.

I think the building shelters etc falls into the good at some form of DIY points.

Some extras could be given for those that have equine skills such as farriery or being a vet perhaps.

Those that have been trained to be horsey deserve an extra few points for their trainablity!

My husband gets a good few points on this, but actually less than when we were first together. Thats quite bad isn't it, going backwards!! He doesn't ride as much as he did (although his son rides his horse and they share, and he is doing a lot of work on our house conversion, so I suppose should be let off!)

Mine got 63 - mainly made up from Section A!

He has a broken hand atm, so I am doing his horse, and the housework, and the cooking....

Well my OH would probably fail, but h has bought a 4WD, ponies, float and a horse property for me.

He does resent the time I spend on them, if it cuts into work time, or the house work is not done.

He does cook (better than me) and does all the food shopping.

He is a mean son of a bitch from time to time. But when my horses needed an operation he funded it, both times.

He earns an above average income.

He has his own hobbies, and is eneavouring to spend at least as much on them as I do on my horses.

MY list would be as follows

Indulgent OH, with a mild interest in what you do, enough to lend a hand, but not enough to interfere.

Enough money to be comfortable. Will curb your excesses re spending on horses, but will not deny enough funds to comfortably enjoy time with horses.

To busy with his own hobby to be interested in the other sex, or notice when you disapear for days at a time.

But is his own person, and not a yes person, who spends his life waiting to be told by wife/GF. As this kind of man would bore me silly.

I freely admit to being dodgy, but I haven't applied for the 'Husband' position yet (although I'm under pressure to do so! lol). I'm pleased to score 76 (although I might get only half marks for the owing a horse bit as my OH and I share him)!

I didn't start out horsey, it's been stealthily foisted upon me! lol
