I have a yearling who’s currently standing at 138cm, I’m trying to work out an approximate height he might make at maturity. Is anyone able to help. Thanks
What’s the string test?I tried the string test on my horses the other day and it said our 8 year old has a few more inches to grow!! She has super long legs I guess. Or I did it wrong. It reckons my 2yo who is approx 14.1 now will make 14.3/15hh
Thank youI've just tried the string test on my mature horses and it's pretty spot on.
I use the centre of knee down to coronet band, following the contours of the front of the leg. Each inch equals a hand.
It's saying my just turned 2 year old will reach 16hh, but I think it'll be more 15.1 at a push!.
Ah now the version I saw said a straight line from coronet to knee, not to follow the contour, which might bring you down to closer to 15.1I've just tried the string test on my mature horses and it's pretty spot on.
