I have a yearling who’s currently standing at 138cm, I’m trying to work out an approximate height he might make at maturity. Is anyone able to help. Thanks

I tried the string test on my horses the other day and it said our 8 year old has a few more inches to grow!! She has super long legs I guess. Or I did it wrong. It reckons my 2yo who is approx 14.1 now will make 14.3/15hh

I've just tried the string test on my mature horses and it's pretty spot on.
I use the centre of knee down to coronet band, following the contours of the front of the leg. Each inch equals a hand.
It's saying my just turned 2 year old will reach 16hh, but I think it'll be more 15.1 at a push!.

Ah now the version I saw said a straight line from coronet to knee, not to follow the contour, which might bring you down to closer to 15.1
