Good stuff? Not so good?

Mine has been good. Had day off awaiting delivery at home so rode early and did some jumping. Really pleased, the work I have been doing without stirrups seems to be paying off. AND I jumped 3ft today, highest we have jumped together

Oh, and he had a proper noseband on with a flash for the first time since he broke his nose.

The hack we went on after jumping wasn't so successful

unfortunately there was a horse eating childrens halloween witches hat on the floor down the lane. Que much running backwards at speed and general stupidness. Given the wire either side of the v narrow lane I gave in after a while and got off, gave him an almighty crack on the bum forwards and then marched him forward and back past it until he stopped jumping the length of the path next to it

Took a while but eventually sense prevailed and I hopped back on and rode him past it. On the way home he jogged up to it and then tucked his bum in and scooted past it lol... got a pat- anything 'forwards' is worth a pat for Sam.

So how was your horsey day?

Mine was good. Rode this morning in the school. Oliver was a bit fizzy to start with and we had to canter for a bit until he settled but he did some really good work after that. He was very tired by the end though. Both him and me need to get fitter!

Bless Sam theses hats are very dangous.

I mucked out 3 horses at work then hacked BCG with my boss on SCG. She decided we should walk them round the canter field. After a few bucks and sidewards jogging from them both they did walk around it in the end. I was only in a thick, hollow mouth snaffle which I really wouldn't of held him if he decided to go.
Then finished work at 4, so quickly took Hattie for a hack before it got too dark.

FAB!! rode for the first time in over 3 weeks! horsey has just been given the all clear from a liver problem, so we went on a little jolly hack, he spooked and jumped and jogged and was basically a pain in the bum, but it felt great being back on him!!
smile.gif

well done for getting him past the scary thing in the end!!

I went galloping up on the Quantocks today which was awesome. My mate and I boxed our horses over to another friend's yard and went out for about 3 hours. We had a couple of amazing uphil gallops and my pony ACTUALLY GOT TIRED and stopped pulling!!!!!!!!! Unbelivable. LOL So nice for them to get the chance to have a good blast, my horse is so sick of being stabled 24/7 and only doing roadwork or schooling.

We had a similar 'spook' experience to yours though with some vicious horse-eating-terriers in a garden, which involved crashing sideways into my friend, spinning round and cantering sideways back up the road narrowly avoiding landing in the ditch. Fortunately me and my stick quickly became more scarey than evil terrier garden monsters and I was able to catch up with everyone else. Stupid horse.

I think she was regretting expending so much energy titting about when she had to gallop 2miles up hill later

I need to get fitter! Sam is bordering too fit but me... gah! Have bought a cross trainer and spending 30 mins per night on it... no major results to report but not finding it too hard, watch tv at the same time and it takes my mind off it!

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTICO!!

Went for a long hack on our own and we had NO napping whatsoever. Went along without a care in the world, past lots of scarey things and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Believe me, this was one giant leap in the right direction and done my confidence a lot of good. Beginning to think whether someone has secretly hypnotised my horse lately

very busy

hacked all three horses at first job, as decided they needed a break from schooling, even managed to pursaude little socks that jumping logs was fun, we then took the others to the gallops as the ground seemed to have improved, then took one out on my own and she tried to have me on the floor, but settled for a nice canter instead, came home and took my two out, now ready to fall asleep

v. good!!! i rode libs after she had some bowen on tuesday, and she felt better! she was lighter on the forehand and did more work than i did!! she was springier and just felt great, if a bit fresh!!

PMSL!!!!!!!! SO true lol!

Superb, infact, out of all of you a bet none of you had a better day than me...

My mare has been on box rest and lead rein walking for around 5 months since an accident caused pedal bone rotation in her hind feet.

Today I got the all clear from the vet to once again climb onto her back and ride again.

I couldn't be happier, she's a woolly mammoth having not been clipped obviously and will be as bonkers as a horse on speed, but she'll be out of her box and we'll be together, like we should be.

I shed a tear of joy after speaking to the vet.

Here is a pic of us doing what we do best

And here is the lovely lady herself...while 'walking' out...

After the amount of canter work I've done the last couple of days I've totally bodged my knee again and am too lame to ride today
frown.gif

WICKEDDDD i rode a lovely horse, feeling much better in my canter although i still need more work, and mis-counted a 4 loop serpentine to a 5 loop but other than that was good!

Not a very exciting horsey day. I went up and put him out this morning (then spent 20 mins trying to get an excaped cow back in its pen), and thats it so far! Will go up about half 8 to bring him back in. I wanted to ride in the lovely weather, but made myself stay in and do uni work, sucks.

FANTASTIC. Having not ridden my boys for a few weeks as I have been in New York, I had a great ride out today on my lovely 4 year old and to ake it better my friend rode my 3 year old out with me. It was great as Ive not had both the boys out together before, and both behaved perfectly and 4 year old was old beyond his years and held a very brave 3 year old hoof!!!
So chuffed and the sun was shining!!!!!!

Had a lovely day!

Went up the yard after lunch and only came home at 7pm.

Was such a nice day brought horse in wearing only a t shirt and gillet, felt like spring!

He was sweaty under his rug bless him so took it off and let him cool off, gave him a quick groom, tacked up and went out for a hack.

Forgot my riding boots so had to wear my yard boots, which I cant ride in LOL, like riding in slippers!

Anyway we went out, horse was full of beans, saw a very scary leaf or something and jumped into a hedge then decided to canter on the spot and trip over his own feet.
Had a lovely ride though he was just a bit on his toes bless him, he is such a wuss hacking alone, tried to nap a bit but luckily I had my trusty stick he he!

had a fabby day horse wise

went for a nice long ride on my own...first time in ages!

tried out a martingale on him today as when we canter/gallop he can stick his head in the air and evades the bit. i know it sounds stupid as the martingale will only take effect when hes throwing his head around but i felt he generally went much nicer. maybe i was sub-consciously (sp?) riding him differently?

had a lovely ride did lots of nice walk/trot/ and a few canters/gallop

jumped a few logs here and there and he was fabby
grin.gif

hes not done much schooling as i havnt the facilities but nothing seems to phase him... we jump quite a scarly log his striding wasnt quite right and he took off from miles off but he went over it and stoped when i asked him too...he used to run off after we jumped anything :P

only down side to my horsey day was that me and my friend had found a fallen tree that went along side the road buy the upper barn on satuarday it was lovely and straight and a perrfect height for a jump and in a perfect place out the wat of the footpath for when your out hacking but its been demoloiseh and is no longer there
frown.gif

hehe sorry to ramble on...finished now

Sounds like everyone took the day off work ! I've just got back from the yard having ridden both my beasties. Feels early though as I'm not normally home before 9.30!

Brooklyn is just recovering from a) physio b) one of his intermittent but increasingly frequent stifle-locking episodes, so I just walked him round the yard then had a little trot in the school to see how he's doing. He doesn't seem himself, not off the leg at all, so something can't be right.
frown.gif

Then I rode my old trooper Merlin, who was fab. We even had a little jump at the end - I thought he had had enough of jumping - he's over 20 and last year kind of said enough is enough - so it was great to have him flying over a fence, even if it was only 2' or so.
laugh.gif

So a mixed day.

I've had a good day!!!!

Short ride this morning then I was off to the vets with Patches for a lameness work. Wanted to get to the bottom of her hind toe dragging (she's done it for over five years but curiosity has gotten the better of me).

All good news...well workable, so I'm a happy bunny!

Well done on the day's achievements with Sam. Bless him, children are ultra scary!

Kids new ponio arrived today so I've been up since stupid-o'clock listening to "can we ride today??".
Pleased to report that apart from being a little stressed to start with (runny poos and sweating) he seems fine now. Tucking into his hay and snack ball, under the promise that if he doesnt destroy the stable/ get out, he can spend all day tomorrow out and maybe go for a little walk on Sunday so he can see the local area.
R order still hasnt turned up, they told me it would be 2 days, now are saying next week, even though all the items were in stock. Quite annoyed at them for that.

Well today we went on a nice quiet hack through the village as we went to an indoor school yesterday to do some jumping. I was very pleased with her yesterday as we did a mini course with a double at 3ft as it was the highest that the wings would go, and then 2 verticals both at 1.05m. She was jumping really nicely apart from one where we were on the wrong stride and we had to put in a half one, and the top 2 poles scattered, but luckily they were the lightweight poles and when I approached it again she flew over. When I watched the video afterwards, although it felt a forward canter, it wasn`t! Oh well, we`ll keep on trying.

Was great
grin.gif

H has been having a bit of time off while my paddocks dried out so I thought I'd hop on him today. He is just amazing to ride and I came off grinning! Ok so he's not schooled properly and has a lot to learn but he's just...wow.
