How wide noseband for Welsh Sec D?

I recently bought a new bridle. It's really lovely but the noseband looks a little narrow for my horse. I know natives and cobs are supposed to wear wide flat nosebands but how wide? He doesn't have a huge head. (Wears a cob sized bridle). Although he's a traditional Sec D in that he's quite cob like and 'chunky', he doesn't have a heavy looking head like some cobs do.

What do people use for their Sec Ds?

I would have thought a 1" flat noseband would be wide enough.

My mare is also pure section D with a pretty head but looks best in a wide nosebad too because of her build. This one in the photo is a 1.5inch wide noseband and I think it looks just right. Anything smaller looks weedy on her.

You'll need a 1.5" wide one for a cob, !" is better on a sec B or similar.

My section A has 1.25 inch wide noseband on these pics http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?635260-Backed-) its a little big around the nose but I think the width looks right

I would say 1.5 would be right for a sec D

Mine are both in 1.25". Interesting as until I just measured them I always thought that one was deeper than the other.
