would it bother you?
It would me....

If it is a decent size yard it should have a Health and Safety poster which should detail the insurance company on it. You are also within your rights to ask to see a copy of the insurance policy to check what it is covered. I would not keep my horse on a yard that is not insured. Nor do I allow any liveries to keep their horses with me if they are not insured for 3rd party. The yard has to be insured for public liability. The yard owner and any helpers have to be insured to handle other people's horses. The yard does not have to be insured for your tack. In fact my insurance company specifically excludes liveries tack as it is not my responsibility. I provide a tack room that is secure with 5 lever mortice lock, barred windows and a solid door. it is up to teh individual to insure their own tack.

bosworth is absolutely right. my yard is insured, but with some caveats. i require my liveries to show me their insurance and i show them mine, and i have the H&S poster displayed.

the simple answer is....ask to see the insurance. any half decent yard will show you. a forgetful yard might go 'oops' and get it sorted out. a yard that says 'no' is one that you should get out of fast, no matter how convenient it might be. Insurance is not about how nice things are now, it's about what happens when it goes wrong, and as we all know, anything to do with horses is bound to go wrong.

short answer, ASK THEM.

good luck
