Hi to all, im sorry in advance as this may turn into a rant
A well known poster of all things cleveland bay received a private message,the messager said that they had concerns over a cleveland bay they believed to be a welfare case and gave a few details to describe the horse
I got to here about this from a friend who had been contacted by the person who had recieved the private message as they were trying to trace this horse
To cut a long winded story short they were decribing MY HORSE
I phoned the well known cleveland bay poster to put her mind at rest that my horse was nothing to worry about and ask if she would disclose the sorce of the PM as i thought that this was a case of the sort of bitch fest at the livery yard i kept my horse at, she would not disclose the sorce to me and worse still insisted that this matter be discussed at the next cleveland bay council meeting
Luckily the cleveland bay council did not believe this was something they should be dealing with and would not discuss it
you would think that that would be the end of the matter
OH NO it has now come back to me that i now beat my horse
How would you feel and what steps would you take to deal with this sort of thing
 
Well, if it's not true, its slander and libel I'd say? So send that message back down the grapevine, followed by one telling whoever is starting these rumours to get a life.
 
I think I would follow SFers approach however I don't know harveysmom if you make your living from horses in which case its more serious .
I can understand you are upset and pissed off someone does not like you with a bit of work you should be able to work out who.

I make my living from horses and anyone who knows me professionally would never in a million years believe any such nonsense and that's one of the major reasons for *not* saying anything. When you are professionally involved with horses and make your sole livelihood from them, it's very dangerous ground to get into a 'he said, she said' type scenario. Best just letting it go.

I do take your point but I suppose I understand why someone would want to know who disliked them so much.

Oh I agree with this. It's always good to know if you have any enemies and if you do, who they are, but once you've found out you have to move on or it would eat you up and could possibly have a detrimental effect on your business reputation.

Totally agree though, on both a personal or professional basis I'd want to know who the 'source' was.
