If a bit was too thick for a horse's mouth? How would the horse ride and what would he be likely to do with his mouth when the bit is in?
You never know, this may actually solve my ongoing problem!

Depends on the problem you're having??

I personally HATE fat bits, especially those god awful thick rubber ones. Ive always found my horses go better in thinner bits like Mylers. One of my past horses was VERY mouthy and extremely sensitive so she liked her rubber bit but it was a Happy Mouth type so was much slimmer than other ones Ive seen.

Can you try borrowing another bit (a slimmer one) and seeing if the horse is any better?

i found that a thicker bit, my lad would open his mouth more and lean a hell of a lot, and appear dead mouthed. thinner suits him much better

My horse is in a Happy mouth straight bar bit but doesn't seem to like it as he goes around with his mouth open most of the time and throws his head about when I try and halt him. He has had the dentist a month ago and his problems with his teeth have been fixed.
