Have you got a current problem with a dealer who has ripped you off? If so, and you would like some advice on what to do from someone who knows quite a bit regarding the legal route from her own problems with a dealer then PM me.
No clue but if it isn't OK admin will remove the post. Is trading standards or anyone like that able to help you? Maybe go to the citizens advice and ask.
You are near me you can PM me the story and I'll spread it if you like!
I can't, and don't, name and shame dealers to people around here as I am in the business, so it would be unprofessional of me to down another dealer or producer ... however I will put appropriate "hmmm's" and "ahhh's" in the right place if someone starts talking about a dealer whom I view as dubious.
As a private buyer, I would say if a dealer has done you wrong then the best course of action is to take legal advice and deal with it in this manner. You could also be within your rights to mention your experiences with other people in person providing they are a true account of what happened, then nothing will come back and bite you.
You could try opening an account from an anonomous(sp?) computer un-tracable to you, get on with it and then accept that that account will probably then be banned and the post may only be visible for a short while. A fair bit of mither for not much of a result, whether its worth it depends on how angry you are! You could always put it on as many other forums as possible at the same time.
ps. I don't know if this is legal, its definitely against rules, just make sure you can't get caught.
I have helped a couple of people who have been royally ripped off to proceed through the County Court - of course then the outcome can be published. It isn't exactly instant, but is very effective
I really need some help because I've just been sold what looks like a headshaker from a dealer. Not a cheap horse, and was sold to event. Any advice? He is claiming no money, no other horses to swap with and says sue vet (who happens to be his yard vet).
Go to your local Trading Standards. They were very helpful to me when I was sold a horse which wasn't 'as described'. They advised me what to do and put pressure on the dealer.
Good luck, I know how distressing the situation can be.
just as someone has told u type up, has any one had dealings with xxxxxxxx good or bad please pm me.i did this and had fab response and help lots of people out there to help ,dont feel alone on this one and dont let dealer get away with it im not.
Wish I knew cos I've got one I need to dish the dirt on! First, I should point out that I'm not directly involved. The horse has arrived where I keep mine. I'm positive the seller is a dealer (despite the stories she told the buyer) as this evil person obviously knew exactly how to con the naiive. Basically, the buyers paid £450 to have the horse on two weeks trial, but the very next day decided they weren't happy and tried to contact her to get their money back. The seller refused and has been threatening and abusive She has told numerous out and out lies and talking to the buyer myself, it is clear that the horse was sedated when they viewed him. The buyer has since had a local vet and farrier out who say the horse has clearly been involved in a substantial accident (possibly hit by a car), the injuries were probably not treated at the time, and the horse's hoof has been artificially built up by a farrier to even out the leg length. He will never be sound and might even collapse if ridden. He was also "sold" without a passport. Needless to say the police don't want to know! I believe the buyer is going to proceed through the small claims court but there is no guarantee they will ever see their money back, but at least this person will get a CCJ against their name - the only other possible fly in the ointment is that it may not be her real name. The poor horse is a sweetie and at least is enjoying some good grass, friendship from my mare who has instantly adopted him, and kindness from humans for a change. It is hoped to get him into a local sanctuary.
