Horse and I both got kicked this morning. Caught him in the shoulder. We were out on a ride, he seemed ok at first hadn't broke the skin and he wasn't reacting to it and was keen to go forward but then it swelled up a bit so I got off and iced it (convenient supply of ice on the verges) and got a lift home in the trailer.
I iced it again then put some arninca cream on him.
Anything else I should do?

Keep using the arnica on it.

Also give him some magnesuim in his feed as magnesium helps with muscle tightness and spasming. The trauma to the area from the kick that was recieved could cause both.

Hope the pair of you are feeling better soon :)

Cold hose it for 15mins or so, now & again later, assuming he is sound. I'd also leave him out today so it doesn't stiffen up. But, if he's lame I'd get the vet.

Trot him up - if he is lame get the vet. Mine got kicked and it ended up as a fracture :( He was also quite happy to go forward and be a plonker as usual at the time

Just an update. Still a bit puffy on his shoulder but trotted up sound last night.
Turned him out with a friend and he displayed much better paces I ever get out of him!
