how would you treat this?

horse slightly stiff in trot
cut on back of hind leg just above fetlock(done by another horse)
tendon sheath swollen from 1/4 along cannon(only on outer aspect of leg) and back of pastern-not hot or sore.
also has some scabs on skin but dont appear infected-not warm.
(horse has been like this for nearly ten days)

personally i wanted him box rested,bandgaged and cold hosed(but no bute yet) and vet on monday with a scan once the swelling has gone, as i feel its tendon related
owner now brought horse now in but was on horse walker and buted up.and probably not getting vet on monday

I would box rest, hose (perhaps depending on wound) & bute horse. If I was at all concerned on Monday I would get the vet.

I agree with you - as he's been like this for 10 days I'd be inclined to get the vet to check him, probably scan him so you what it is and what you need to do, even if it is just to rest him. I hope he is OK.
