How would you value this horse?

Makes me wonder on the vets viewpoint when I have just paid £3k to have one molar tooth removed from my horse as the insurance doesn’t cover it. The removal went well, not like a previous horse that the countries top dental clinic removed- bust into the sinus and left me with a £7.5k bill that the insurance paid £5k on.

So £8k for a whole horse who sounds lovely is a bargain. Nice horses that suit you are priceless..
My walking vets bills were 600 pounds and one, respectively. Tens of thousands in bills between them but that's horses for you I suppose, they are definitely a quick way to a small fortune from a large one

I think the same horse pre Covid would have been half the price (or less if in a hurry to sell) but I’d say if she’s sound and fit for purpose then 8k is about in the right ballpark these days.

At the end of last summer I paid nearly but not quite double for my current cob x Welsh D youngster of no recorded breeding (I’ve seen photos of his parents but their registered names aren’t in his passport so can’t play detective) to what I paid for my fully registered Highland just before Covid.

Safe, sane horses that you can get on & go definitely command a premium and if current youngster turns into what I think he’s going to (& grows upwards another inch or so and fills out… & I don’t cock his training up) I most certainly wouldn’t be able to afford the “finished” version of him
