How young can you get a puppy neutered?

OH's (previously very non doggy) brother and sister in law have just bought a Labradoodle puppy. It would seem from a very reputable breeder judging by the info the have had to provide before getting puppy etc. Odd thing is that they have mentioned that the puppy will be neutered when they get him at 9 weeks??
Is this possible?
 
6 months was about the youngest i thought too. It was what i was advised by vet with my puppy.
I could see how this might be possible with a male puppy but dount it would be safe/possible with a bitch?
 
This must be wrong, any decent vet would never ever do this. Mine did ours at 6 months and they wouldnt do it any younger, full stop. Have they misheard? xxx
 
I thought it was around the 9 months for a dog as they have to wait for them to descend - and bitches they normally recommend they have a full season first

Just about to ask this. While the norm over here is still six months for a female dog--and a bit older for males--I do know of people who got young puppies from rescues in the South or pet shops

and the dog was already fixed.
 
Well they now have the puppy and have said a few times hes has already been neutered? I tried to have a feel to see what his bits were like but he is typical wired to moon puppy and didnt want them to think i was some kind of dog pervert lol

Its really annoying me as i really want to challange them...grrrrrr

I asked them!!! and they just said 'ohh yes breeder got him neutered when he was microchipped. They are the type of people to believe anything the breeder will have told them as they are not knowledgable re dogs.
Going to visit him again at the weekend. OH thinks im mad as i keep going on about it but its really annoying me!

Only thing i did think was odd that breeder travelled over and hour to go to vets ????
Trying to find where they got him from now to see if they have website lol
 
Well they are certainly making some money there, they have quite the breeding enterprise going on.
It does indeed look like they neuter young and the reason.......so knowone can bred from their lines without paying the huge price tag for a potential breeder, instead they pay a smaller ridiculous price tag for a non breeder that is neutered so young to ensure no breeding occurs via the purchaser.

I was aware they neutered at this age, but thought it was only in America....Not here! it states in the bumf that they do it in Australia, and as they are australian labradoodles

They look no different to our labradoodle in our rescue....a fluffy mongrel

They prob have a good deal going with the vet, esp if they travel a hour, I suppose not that far, but maybe they had difficulty finding a vet that would neuter that young.

Ohh dont even go there re the whole 'australian labradoodle' thing. i did ask them why on earth they felt the need to get one and mentioned the fact they were paying a bloody fortune! They are well off but are clueless and think that that price is normal for such a special dog....save meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

It gets to meet my JRT's in a couple of days. Im sure they will get told off for being rough lol
 
Really don't like the idea of spaying a bitch puppy at 6 weeks, and RSPCA support for the idea doesn't exactly fill me with confidence

More to the point whats with the australian labradoodle bit, why would anyone feel the need to IMPORT crossbreeds, bxxxxy mad. Sorry will get off my soapbox now, no disrespect to your friends but they seem to have more money than sense.

I'm definitely going to have to find a breed other than a GSD to mate Evie to if I have a liter from her
