why shouldn't he have so much in his safe? he trains racehorses, wins x amount, has wages to pay out, also it costs a bomb to keep a horse in training.

Maybe not the wisest thing to keep so much money on the premises, but it's his house and he's perfectly entitled to keep whatever he likes there. He and his wife have been subjected to a horrifying attack regardless of whether it was for £50 or £100,000.

However it does all seem a bit odd when it must have been obvious he would have been away at Aintree for three days. Presumably they needed him to open the safe.

Someone knew there was a lot of money in that safe.

he was home at the time, Aintree or not. perhaps it was intended for the bank, who knows, its just a poor job you cant do whatever you like in your own house as you say.

Yes but these things are usually done via cheque or bank transfer...! As someone with 3 horses in training, i feel justified to comment.

sorry for being ignorant, i was in racing myself for years but obviously people aren't as honest as they used to be- i like to still think that there are a few decent folk left in the world.
