So here's where we pay for the weekend - Henry is driving me bonkers!

My bloke is currently house-sitting, so last night Henry and I went to stay over. Henry has been to this house before several times including overnight, and knows both the resident dogs. We put his crate into the hallway, as the resident dogs currently have fleas courtesy of a hedgehog :o and I didn't want them to get into his bedding (Henry himself is Advocated). He had his DAP infuser plugged in, and was not in any draughts. He had been fed and watered and had been for a run before bed, so was not hungry and did not need the loo. Despite this, he spent the whole night whining and wheeking away...

I am at a bit of a loss on what to do this evening, I am already hugely stressed at work at the moment and spent all last night either having stress nightmares or lying awake listening to Henry, and poor bloke was not getting too much sleep either... I think we could all do with a good night's sleep tonight! He doesn't normally sleep in my room, so that shouldn't be an issue either, and his crate is very comfy. We stayed at another place over the weekend and he was very chilled and settled well - we are at a bit of a loss as to what the problem is here.

Anyone got any ideas on how we get some sleep tonight? Of course Henry is snoozing under my desk so he's fine, but I am like a zombie! :o

I might suggest having him in the crate in our room, but I think we'd both much rather avoid that if possible. Not sure what else we can do to settle him down though. Other than hard drugs or getting him drunk ;) :p

Well you knew you would get payback!
When he stayed there overnight before was he in with the other dogs? If so it could just be he can hear them and wants to be in with them. Its possible he is just a bit unsettled as you were somewhere else at the weekend, and may be better tonight. Can't really offer much help other than perhaps risk the fleas and put his cage in sight of the others if that is where he was before.

I feel your pain. I have the exact same problem with Harley. He just will NOT settle in other houses. He screams all night.

I gave up and now he either sleeps with us or I go down and sleep with him :(

If we are there during the day, I try and shut him in rooms away from me to help with the training. But so far we haven't done enough of it.

I did come across a jacket in PAH today, just created a post to see if anyone lese had come across it.

I considered it (it would be completely safe), but I thought he'd get chilly, the great wuss.:o

He's also just rolled in a long-deceased mole, so he can forget sleeping in the bedroom tonight! Nothing like Eau de Decomposition to ruin any atmosphere:rolleyes: We'll have to try moving the crate to closer to the other dogs and hope for the best re any little passengers, we have been spraying both of them, so hopefully they will be flea-free.:o

Stick his fleece on him, he'll be fine :)
All our gang's dogs overnight in cars for weekends at a time (including the ones who normally sleep on the bed :p) and they do just fine.

Was gonna say attack the others with frontline spray and then shift him back to his regular spot! Hope it works and his passion and sleep killing noises are absent tonight! :p :D

Put him in the kitchen last night, peace and quiet all round. Lovely!:)

Hopefully, there are no passengers, will give his bed a wash just in case though:p

Do you actually cover his crate? I put a blanket over Floddens at night so it becomes his own dark den and never a peep from him. Try it with Henry, it may be that he can see others, or shadows moving and he is trying to join in.

His overnight crate (get us with our variety of crate choices!) is his car crate, which is like this:

So it is nice and dark for him:)

I think he was just lonely:o:rolleyes: Bless his sensitive little paws (and extremely piercing voice:eek:)
