Just wondering what you think of D and if there is much change from when i first bought him to now. I think he's looking pretty good for this time of the year but i could be wrong! Please dont be too harsh... lol (sorry but these are the only decent side on pics i have of him)

He looks well but in the middle pic, he looks like he's lost a bit of condition on his neck/just infront of his withers. Could be deceptive due to the way his mane is lying though.

My opinion is that he looks like he's dropped some condition in the 2nd piccie...loss of topline, but again could be the way the piccie has been taken

much better looking in 3rd...guess these were taken on same day?
nice horse too

In the top photo he looks like he has more topline
2nd photo he has a dip infront of his withers (not there on 1st photo)

He looks better on 3rd photo, was this taken same time as 2??? (doesn't look like it was) t can't see neck

So IMHO from the photos shown he looks like he has lost topline muscle and some condition

Hope that helps

Actual weight wise he looks fine, well covered

He does appear to be lacking topline and muscle tone though?
What are you feeding?are you working him?

(if not working could explain lack of topline and muscle, however if in work could maybe do to look at what you are feeding to help build a little more condition?)

I think he looks rather well! Problem is, is that the top photo he is tacked up, so in all honesty, you can't really compare the photos on that score. He looks to have a grass belly in the top photo, and in the others, he looks to have a healthy athletic weight. I must say he looks to have gained more condition/muscle on the top of his bum.... looks more peach like

You are doing well with his weight this time of year. What age is he? xx

Thanks for your opinions guys. Yes the 2nd and 3rd pics were taken at the same time, like i said their the best ones i had, he wont stand still long enough to get a good pic! He has been out of work for a few weeks due to the weather, he really doesnt like the wind or the rain, completely freaks him out, so its not worth taking him out and scaring the bejeezus out of him. He's on hifi, baileys no 4, speedibeet and outshine twice a day. As much grass as he can eat during the day and as much haylege at night, but tbh he isnt the worlds biggest eater. Last year he lost a tremendous amount of weight and condition and then again started loosing it at the begining of summer, so thats why i changed him to baileys no 4 as the mix he was on didnt seem to do anything. While the weather was good we would hack, do flatwork and some jumping as often as we could, riding every day if possible. He did have problems during the summer with a bad back, so had that sorted and new saddle which has definately helped, but he's very rigid in his neck and and struggling to get him to work properly. I did discover at the begining of the year that he is ex polo which meant that i had to re adjust what i did with him and am doing a lot of bending and flexing trying to get him to loosen him up. And yes he does now have a 'peachy' bum!! lol

ETA he's 11 years old and there isnt a dip in front of his withers, he happens to have a mini mohican on top of his withers, i just havent tidied him up yet

Thank you he is a nice horse, he's such a sweet heart. We do have quite a few issues to sort through, but we are finally starting to find what works and we are getting there. He's such a gentle soul too any one can handle him, so much so even my totally none horsey (totally frightened of horses) mom loves him and will even sort of brush him and fuss him!

I think its hard to compare the pics as he tacked in one and un-tacked in the others....so I dont really see how top-line can be fully compared.

I think he is a nice weight- better to be lean than chubby....yes top-line could be better but so could my horse...prominent withers dont help the look either do they? I know the pain of that one......

He has a nice coat, but think you need to focus on building up a topline, possibly start by lunging him (you dont need to put anything on him to 'tie' his head down) he will naturally carry himself once he has built up the muscle tone! means you can keep sessions nice and short (perfect for this kind of weather!)
